Party Platforms

I've had questions recently on past party platforms of the Democratic and Republican parties. Although the current platform for each party will be adopted at their respective national conventions, we have several reference books that can help our patrons find information on past platforms. National Party Platforms (REF 324.23 JOH) covers the years 1840-1976. This two-volume set includes not only the Democratic and Republican party platforms, but also independent parties as well. We also have The Encyclopedia of the Republican Party (REF 324.273 ENC) and The Encyclopedia of the Democratic Party (REF 324.273 ENC) covering platforms through 1992. The final book I want to mention is the 2-volume Guide to U.S. Elections by CQ Press. Summaries of the Democratic and Republican party platforms through 2004 are given.
